Rezūm Steam Therapy
- BPH Overview: Prostate gland enlargement, benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH, leads to uncomfortable urinary symptoms in men. The risk of BPH increases as men age, with around 30% experiencing symptoms by age 60 and 50% by age 80.
- Rezūm is a new minimally invasive therapy designed to alleviate BPH symptoms. It employs steam to reduce the size of the prostate and provide relief.
- Efficacy and Low Risk: Rezūm has demonstrated effectiveness in eliminating excess prostate tissue, a primary contributor to BPH symptoms. Importantly, the treatment poses a low risk of side effects.
- Procedure Details: The steam treatment with Rezūm is conducted in a clinic setting and takes approximately one hour. Unlike traditional surgeries, it doesn't necessitate a hospital stay.
- Treatment Process: During the procedure, a small needle is inserted into the urethra and positioned within the prostate gland. The needle generates a steam ball within the prostate, which measures about 2 centimeters in diameter. The steam effectively destroys the tissue it contacts, thereby reducing the excess prostate tissue responsible for BPH symptoms.

- Introduction to ThuLEP: The ThuLEP method, utilizing Thulium Laser technology, is a prominent and widely adopted treatment technique in recent times.
- Closed Prostate Surgery: ThuLEP involves closed prostate surgery conducted using Thulium Laser. This surgical approach represents a newer technology within the field of urology.
- Efficiency in BPH Treatment: ThuLEP stands out as an especially effective treatment method for conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as benign prostatic enlargement.
- Advantages Over Older Methods: The text underscores that the ThuLEP method offers substantial advantages compared to older methods like HOLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate).
